Glacier Senior meeting Wednesday May 13th at 3pm to discuss graduation.

Hello Glacier Seniors,

We will have a meeting this Wednesday, May 13th at 3pm to share with you the plans for your graduation ceremony. If you have not done a ZOOM meeting before, please allow yourself 10 to 15 minutes to get on. If you have a school chromebook or a personal device it should work fine please note there is a Zoom password that might be required to join. We sent out a parentsquare with the meeting link and login details to all seniors and families. If you do not have this meeting link please contact your advising teacher.

Coming Budget Cuts for WSCS and How You Can Help

Dear WSCS Families,

I hope you are doing well as together we continue to navigate our way through these difficult days. Our goal at WSCS remains the same, to support the schooling needs of our fantastic students and families. You are our mission and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with you and serve your needs.

I am writing to share with you looming budgetary realities for Western Sierra Charter Schools. You may already be aware of the economic news in California. Governor Newsom just announced yesterday that for the coming fiscal year California’s budget deficit is $54 billion! This means we expect massive cuts to various State programs. Although we do not yet know the depth of cuts to education funding we are being told to expect total funding for our WSCS schools to be cut by 22%!

WSCS operates a very lean program already. We are small, efficient, with no bureaucracy and minimal overhead. We spend our resources on staff that provide service to students and family and on educational materials. The impact of a 22% funding cut is huge. In order to meet this looming fiscal challenge we will need to cut our spending significantly.

There are a variety of things you can do to help:

Please return any unused curriculum as well as the curriculum you are using when you are done. We need those materials to move on to the next student who will use them.
The same goes for the Chromebooks. If you do not need a Chromebook which is checked out to you, we definitely have another student who could use it.
Here is a biggie, and I hate to even be sharing this; however, due the fiscal situation we are facing, I must. We need to drastically cut back our new curriculum purchases this year. We simply do not have the funding to purchase new curriculum like we have in the past. Happily, we have a wide variety of great curricular options already in stock. Please limit your curricular requests for the coming year to those things that we already stock and supply. Your teachers can work with you to help you through your planning and selection process.

WSCS will continue to provide all of our students and families with personal care and attention. We will continue to put the needs of our students first. We will continue to provide quality curricular options (though more limited than in the past years). We will continue to offer high interest classes both in person and through distance learning.

As parents you know what is best for your family and you know how to effectively manage your family’s resources, including adapting to unforeseen challenges. The WSCS staff will do the same. Together we will successfully meet this challenge and continue to provide our students exciting and powerful learning opportunities and experiences!

RESULTS FOR 2020-2021 Endeavor Charter School conducted on May 6, 2020

** Numbers highlighted in blue will be offered enrollment at the time of the drawing.
Families will be responsible to make contact with the school and will have 48 hours to contact us to accept/deny spots. If the 48 hour time period falls on either a weekend or holiday then the deadline would be within school business hours. Families would know deadline ahead of time. (For this lottery please contact us by May 8th)

As spaces open throughout the year we will contact families on this current lottery until the list is exhausted.
A lottery list is only valid through the school year it was performed. Families that were not enrolled in the current school year can be entered into the following years' lottery.
If new families contact us after the current lottery drawing, they will be placed on a new list for the next lottery.
