Western Sierra Charter Schools (WSCS) is committed to three foundational principles. First, parents are to be active leaders in their child’s education. Secondly, each student’s academic program is personalized to meet the needs of that individual student. Finally, WSCS is committed to maintaining high expectations of excellence in both academic rigor and personal conduct for students, parents and faculty.
WSCS operates two charter schools. Mountain Home School Charter (MHSC), originally established in 1994 as the 63rd charter school authorized in California. MHSC serves the mountain community of Oakhurst as well as operates a resource center in Fresno to serve valley families looking for an alternative to the traditional K-8 seat-based schools. Glacier High School Charter (GHSC) was founded in 2002 for the purpose of creating a high school program similar in structure to MHSC’ elementary program. GHSC shares a campus with Mountain Home School in Oakhurst and the resource center in Fresno, CA.

Glacier Teacher Description:
As a Personalized Learning public charter high school, Glacier High School Charter offers students and families unique, customized and personal, educational services. A Glacier teacher not only provides onsite classroom instruction in a college style format (two or three days a week) but also works very closely with each student and family assigned to him/her and provides specialized, professional educational guidance overseeing his or her independent study program. The credentialed teacher at Glacier High School Charter is called upon to fulfill many roles beyond the normal expectations of a classroom teacher. The Glacier teacher does not work more or less than their average counterpart in a standard classroom based setting. The Glacier teacher simply has different, more varied educational tasks to accomplish.

Full Time Library Tech/Business Service Assistant (Oakhurst):
- To serve as the library technician for our Oakhurst location and to serve as an administrative business services assistant. As the Library Tech this staff provides a welcoming library environment to students and parents, catalogs books and curriculum, shelves and organizes books and administers the library check-out system. As the Business Services Assistant this staff works directly with Executive Director and the Chief Business Officer, tracks all purchases for WSCS, communicates with vendors, and works alongside our accounts payable office.
Full Time Receptionist/Office Assistant (Fresno):
- To serve as the primary receptionist for the Fresno Resource Center main building; to provide a welcoming first contact for visitors, students, parents, and staff as they enter the building, to monitor main door and security cameras for visitors and deliveries, to receive and connect telephone calls, to direct visitors and provide information to callers and visitors, to perform varied clerical work of average difficulty, to help with supervision of main building, and to perform related work as required.

- Must posses a Science Single Subject Teaching Credential in either Biological Sciences or Chemistry (Both bio and chem credentialed preferred not required)
Full Time High School Math Teacher (Fresno)
- This position requires mathematics instruction ability for pre-algebra through algebra 2, (pre-calculus preferred).
